"Warcraft" is an epic fantasy adventure film directed by Duncan Jones and written by Jones and Charles Leavitt. Based off the well-known game franchise World of Warcraft, which spans across multiple genres, the film adaptation will keep with the series' flair for showing conflict from multiple perspectives, so we can likely expect this film to feature multiple protagonists on both sides of the titular war. The film is set for release on March 11, 2016.

Cast

Spoilers

According to MTV, the film tells the story of Anduin Lothar, a human leader, who wages war against Durotan, an Orc leader. Both leaders, said Jones, only wanted to do the right thing for their people, but war results despite their good intentions. Rumors have it that the name of the human leader Lothar was inspired by "Lord of the Rings," the epic book written by author J.R.R Tolkien, which turned into the tremendously popular movie series, and also takes place in a fantastic setting.

"Warcraft" purportedly follows the story behind the original "Warcraft" game, where the unenthusiastic leader Lothar is compelled to battle the raging Orc hordes headed by Durotan and Orgrim.

Fans will be excited to see that many elements of the original game's story will be maintained, although, of course, we can expect significant liberties in the name of good movie storytelling. In keeping with the long-running franchise, the end will almost surely tease renewed warfare in the future led by new leaders as well as old. Also, befitting a war where the conflict is bigger than any one person on each side, no character is assured to survive.
