Jeremy Lin is Brooklyn Net's Newest Point Guard; Possible Reasons Why He Signed Besides $36 Million Deal - Will He Be a Starter?
Jeremy Lin has inked a three-year, $36 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets, taking the free agent guard back to the city where his meteoric NBA rise first began.
The 28-year-old veteran guard wasted little time in solidifying his New York City area return, coming to terms with the Nets soon after the free agency signing period officially kicked off early Friday and after meeting with just one other team (New Orleans).

Lin starred with the Charlotte Hornets last season, averaging 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3 assists. But the final year of his two-year, $4.3 million pact offered him a player option he took advantage of.
Lin's earlier stop in New York with the Knicks, resulted in one of the most memorable NBA hot streaks in recent memory. He averaged 18 points and 8 assists over a 25-game stretch in 2012 that came to be known as "Linsanity."
Lin Among Most Sought After Free Agents
He later parlayed that streak of dominance into a three-year, $25 million deal with the Houston Rockets, who were also rumored to hold high interest in bringing him back this free agent cycle.
The San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and even the Knicks were also rumored to hold varying degrees of interest in the Harvard educated Lin.
Reunited With one of Favorite Coaches
In taking his act to Brooklyn, Lin will reunite with Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, who was an assistant with the Knicks during his 2012 run. Lin has often credited Atkinson with playing a pivotal role in his development.
Lin has often made little secret of his fondness for the New York City area or his desire to create more of a stable NBA home for himself.
"I've played six years in the NBA," he said in the days leading up to inking his deal with the Nets. "I've played for five different teams. I've played for two D-League teams, so seven cities in six years. I'm tired of boxes, I'm tired of moving companies and I want to find a home."
