The Euro 2016 final will pit Portugal and France against one another on Sunday after at 3 p.m. EDT.
The biggest storylines of the tournament feature the host nation looking for a fourth major title and their third at home. No host nation has won a Euro trophy on its home soil since 1984 when France won the Euro 2016. The French did win the 1998 World Cup at home and could be looking to pull out a similar result on Sunday.
Meanwhile Portugal will be playing in its first final since 2004 when it was the host nation and lost against Greece 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo was debuting for his countrying in that tournament.
Road to the Final
Portugal finished third in its group after managing three straight draws. Then the team dispatched Croatia, Poland and Wales on the way to the final. Cristiano Ronaldo has led the side with three goals and three assists in the tournament.
France was the winner of Group A with two victories and one draw. The team then overcame Ireland, Iceland and Germany on its way to the final game. Antoine Griezmann has six goals in the tournament.
History Says...
France has had a huge advantage throughout the matchup. Les Bleues have won 18 games and only lost five; there has also been one draw. France has a 10-game winning streak, including a pair of victories in 2014 and 2015 against Portugal.
Players to Watch
Griezmann and Ronaldo will be the main men on the pitch for their respective. For Ronaldo the win is a chance to cement his legacy as an all-time great. Even without the win, he would be there but he might just finally get the edge over his great rival Lionel Messi with an international trophy.
Griezmann is becoming a French legend in the vein of Zinedine Zidane with his tournament performance and could yet add to his own legacy.

Portugal wins 1-0 thanks to Ronaldo playing the hero.
