One of the most famous Facebook pages, Humans of New York, got invited to the MET Gala by Vogue magazine on Monday this week.

The Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Just like the page's nuanced and sentimental approach to taking photos and capturing the best out of an interview, the Humans of New York photographer was able to get it out of his newest subjects, albeit that they were "drinking cocktails and in tuxedos."

Brandon Stanton, creator of the Humans of New York photo project, was invited by Vogue to take pictures at the Met Gala. Vogue allowed Stanton to post some of his favorite pieces on the Humans of New York blog. And, just like the fashion moguls and icons, and A-listers of actors, singers and musicians, Stanton had to go dressed in black tie as well.

Stanton captured portraits of actor Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka, Bryan Cranston and his wife Robin Dearden; and nine-time Grammy winner John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen. Teigen is also very active in social media.

The way in which Stanton photographed celebrities and how he got them to open up, was the same way he approached the people he photographs daily for his Facebook page. Stanton stated that his goal was the same; he typically meets people on the street, conducts short interviews, and pairs each photograph with either a passionate, meaningful or mostly motivational quotes, which he gathers based on the interviews from his subjects, Mashable reported.

Stanton's shared Facebook post and photograph of Cranston along with his wife, and a quote about her by Cranston, "She still gets giddy when she sees a firefly," received 310,000 likes, and over 6,100 comments.

But, Stanton is a Facebook celebrity in his own earned right. His Humans of New York Facebook page logs 5.1 million viewers. And, he is The New York Times bestselling author of the book Humans of New York.

In the beginning, all Stanton wanted to do was follow his dreams of taking photographs and sharing them, but he perhaps never thought that Humans of New York would become such a cultural phenomenon.
