Windows 10 Free Update Before Deadline: Where and How to Download Upgrade Before July 29, 2016 Date – The Top Features
Windows 10 can be updated for free until its one-year anniversary on Friday July 29.
Microsoft released the new software last year offering the latest OS to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. For one whole year, users were able to update their devices for free and it all ends tomorrow.
After the July 29 deadline, it will cost $119 to upgrade to Windows 10.
Downloading the Windows 10 update before the deadline will also allow you to get a free upgrade of the Anniversary Upgrade which is being launched on Aug. 2.
You can get the free Windows 10 Update by going to the Microsoft website and following the guide for instructions. It is quite easy to complete and most users will just have to click on the upgrade notification taskbar if they are already eligible for an upgrade.
What Windows 10 Has to Offer
The start menu that most Microsoft users remember, is back. The new start button is designed in a way that helps you to combine the features of the latest two versions of Windows.
A black theme is offered with the official upgrade but you can switch to a lighter color that can be shown on the task bar and Start menu.
Navigation has been improved. It is easy to switch to different screens and there is a new Action Center that collects alerts when you get new notifications.
There is a new Snap feature that also helps with making navigation easier where users can drag any screen edge to it and snap the screen in half. Once the feature is in motion, users can see all of their windows in a large display (all snapped in half).
Task View is also a new feature that allows users to display all their open windows on a single tab in order to quickly find whatever it is that they are looking for.
The biggest new feature is Microsoft’s “Cortana” that is sort of like the virtual assistant Siri.
Cortana is designed to be an extension of the Start menu so that users can also use their voice to search.
What Cortana Has to Offer
Cortana has the ability to:
Set reminders for Times, Places and People
Use natural language search
Identify a song
Google search
Perform calculations and conversions
Track flights and packages
Find facts
Check the weather
Get directions
Set alarms
Launch programs
Send email
Create calendar events
