USA's Next Game vs Argentina at 2016 Rio Olympics (Basketball) – The Team Rosters, Date, Start Time & NBC Live Streaming:
A shell-shocked Team USA will be out to restore order when they face off against Argentina in the quarterfinal round of the Rio Olympics on Wednesday.
Against the Argentines, the Americans will be pitted against a familiar foe, a reality the band of NBA mercenaries are hinting just might be what they need to get back on course.
Wednesday's tip-off is at 5:45 p.m. ET on NBC. You can watch a live stream by visiting Rio2016.com.
Thompson Confident
"We'll be ready for these last three [games], I'm telling you right now," said Klay Thompson, who snapped out of his own personal funk with 30 points to lead the Americans to a hard fought 100-97 win over France in their last game.
The narrow margin of victory marked the third straight game Team USA has won by 10 points or less and cut their average margin of victory in those contests to just over five points.
"I do think they trust each other," Coach Mike Krzyzewski said of his roster of high-priced superstars. "They're just not accustomed to playing with one another. When you're together for one month, it's not as instinctive."
Krzyzewski was sure to add he doesn't think any of the disunity has to do with any of his players not pulling for one another.
Krzyzewski's Defense
"It's just not as instinctive as it would be for an international team that's played together for years," he reasoned. "That's always something that we have to fight in putting a team together for these international competitions. But we're getting there."
Against an Argentina team that features NBA veterans Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni and Carlos Delfino, they'll need to be clicking on all cylinders.
Team USA knocked off Argentina by 37 points in an exhibition back in July, but to a man the Americans also remember that Argentina knocked of a Carmelo Anthony led USA team in the semifinals of the 2004 Games in Athens, sparking a complete overhaul of USA basketball that ushered in the use of NBA players.
"Everyone we see now is going to be explosive," added Thompson. "We're happy to be 5-0, and we control our own destiny. We just have to trust ourselves on both sides of the ball, and if we do that and play hard, I don't think we'll lose."
