The Bogart fire in Southern California is continuing to spread after injuring a few firefighters and increasing in size since its first blaze late Tuesday night in the Beaumont area. Officials have slightly contained the fire in the Cherry Valley area (Riverside), a blaze speculated to be human-caused.

Even with the fire partly contained, any shift in wind change can heighten the blaze as it reaches through areas of vegetation.

“Our priority is to protect life and property,” Cal Fire Capt. Liz Brown told The Sun Wildfires.

Firefighters Injured in Bogart Fire

Firefighters put up a good fight in containing 20 percent of the Bogart fire in Southern California. More than 400 firefighters were sent to combat the fire. Ten percent of the firefighters were injured in the flames Tuesday night but nothing was life threatening.

As authorities continue to combat the fire, five helicopters and nine air tanks are sent in to help them completely destroy the fire. There are a handful of hot spots for firefighters to work on Wednesday.

Bogart Fire Spread

The Bogart fire is the third largest fire in Southern California this month where 35,000 acres of land was blackened by the Blue Cut and Pilot fires. Bogart is expected to blaze through more land, reaching the Banning Water Canyon that supplies water supply to surrounding cities.

It is growing fast in its earliest stage just like the Blue Cut fire.
