Israel and Italy kick off their UEFA World Cup Qualifier on Monday.

Italy put together a terrific Euro 2016 campaign. Not only did the team win its difficult group that included Belgium, but then it put together one of the finest performances of the tournament as it dismantled Spain 2-1 in the round of 16. That performance featured tremendous pressing that forced the Spaniards to pass to the outside, never quite finding the cutting edge that defined their early tournament success.

Italy faces a tough road ahead as it faces Spain in this group; only one team gets automatic qualification for the World Cup while the second place team has to endure a playoff round. Italy knocked Spain out of the Euro 2016 in the round of 16 and has a dominant record overall despite some high profile losses in the 2008 and 2012 Euros.

Israel only qualified once for the World Cup back in 1970 when it drew two games and lost one.

Prediction

Italy may be on the road but this should be an easy 2-0 win.
