The 2014 NFL draft was an exciting one for football fans. The Johnny Manziel watch lasted hours, many trades took place between teams, and a historic moment occurred when defensive end Michael Sam was drafted by the Saint Louis Rams.

But the draft isn't the only way into the National Football League. We've seen some really great players go undrafted in the past. Prime examples would be Kurt Warner, Tony Romo and Warren Moon. Some players that are drafted will not even make the team or see playing time in an actual game. On the other hand, some players that go undrafted will get playing time in games and eventually become starters.

Just hours after the draft finalized, teams and general managers were making calls and signing players like wildfire.

There are some notable players that have been signed so far. One name that stands out is quarterback, Jordan Lynch out of Northern Illinois. Lynch was signed by the hometown Chicago Bears. Lynch hasn't shown that he's an elite quarterback, but for an undrafted player, this could be a great move. Lynch is an accurate passer and extremely mobile for a quarterback. Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler is often injured a lot.

An unbelievable thing that happened (or didn't happen) on draft day was no Texas Longhorn players were drafted for the first time since 1937. Despite not being drafted for the first time in nearly 80 years, the Longhorns will still be a part of this season's rookie class. Wide Receiver Mike Davis was signed by the Oakland Raiders, and Jackson Jeffcoat was signed by the Seattle Seahawks.

A very interesting move was made by the San Francisco 49ers. The team decided to sign 23-year-old linebacker Shane Skov. Many draft experts (like Mel Kiper) believe that the 49ers had one of if not the best draft of any team this year. Skov is a large linebacker that can rush the quarterback and make tackles. The Browns made a head scratching move by signing quarterback Connor Shaw. The Browns have a lot of quarterbacks on their roster including Vince Young, Tyler Thigpen, Johnny Manziel and Alex Tanney already.

There's no telling just yet how good these players will be. Most likely, many of these players will be released before the regular season begins when NFL cut regulations begin to take place. For those players, they will still have gained experience of being in an NFL environment, and this doesn't have to be the end. For the undrafted players that did sign and will continue with said team, they are a true success story.
