Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow meet in the Champions League 2016-17 group stage on Wednesday.

The two sides are looking to take advantage of a favorable draw in the group stage. There is no clearcut favorite in this group with Tottenham Hotspur and Monaco the other competitors. Back in 2014-15, Bayer Leverkusen wound up in a group with Monaco and finished second with three wins, one draw and two defeats on its way to the round of 16. A year ago the team finished third in a tougher group that included Barcelona and Roma. 

The Russian contingent was in the tournament last season in a rather "simple" group as well and wound up cratering with one win, one draw and four defeats. Its opponents in Group B last season were Wolfsburg, PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United. The team's lone victory came at home over PSV Eindhoven and the draw was against a mediocre Manchester United side.

Bayer Leverkusen should be the favored side when all is said and done and should walk away with a 1-0 win at home.
