Two of America's favorite families are coming together this fall -- "Family Guy" will meet "The Simpsons" in a unique crossover episode coming in September.

In the upcoming one-hour special titled "The Simpsons Guy," Rhode Island's famous family leaves their Quahog home and ends up in Springfield, where they are greeted by a friendly stranger named Homer Simpson and his family.

The one-off episode finds the two families initially getting along, according to The New York Post. Grumpy Homer welcomes Peter, his new "albino" friend, with open arms. Stewie becomes obsessed with mischievous Bart with his old-fashioned pranks and skateboarding, while Lisa, the brain, takes maligned Meg under her wing and is determined to find anything at which she excels. Matriarchs Marge and Lois ditch their household chores and enjoy their time. The hilarious show also shows Homer and Peter fighting over the best beer in town -- Pawtucket vs. Duff.

However, the patriarchs eventually end up hitting each other, as the pair are seen in a parody of a recurring fist fight with a giant chicken called Ernie.

"The Simpsons" regulars Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa) and Julie Kavner (Marge) will return to guest-voice the forthcoming episode, while "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane (Peter and Stewie), Mila Kunis (Meg) and Alex Borstein (Lois) will be also featured.

McFarlane has previously featured Homer, Marge and various other characters from "The Simpsons" in Family Guy; one of them in a 2009 episode "The Juice is Loose," in which Peter befriends another Simpson -- O.J. Castellanata also gave a one-liner in a 2012 episode of the show, and MacFarlane made an appearance on "The Simpsons" last May.

"Generations of fans will be talking about this one," said Fox Entertainment Chairmen Kevin Reilly, MTV News reported.
