Paraguay and Peru will face off in the World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday.

A few months out, Paraguay was not considered as a candidate for the World Cup in 2018. But the team has reversed its fortunes, winning in Argentina to put itself just one point behind the Albiceleste in the race for the top five.

Peru is pretty much out of the contest, sitting eight in the tournament with just eight points, seven behind the fifth spot. The team is coming off a loss against Chile and now has just two wins, two draws and six defeats.

The top four teams from the CONMEBOL automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2018. The fifth place side moves onto a playoff match against the Oceania Confederation.
