'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Cast, News & Release Date: Rita Ora Was 'Nervous' to Join 50 Shades Stars on Set
British singer Rita Ora may exude confidence when performing on stage, but she was all nerves when she joined the cast of "Fifty Shades of Grey."
Ora plays Mia Grey, the adopted sister of Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dornan), in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling novel. Before joining the film, she had only appeared in one other movie, as an uncredited racer in "Fast & Furious 6." In an interview with Capital FM over the weekend, Ora revealed just how hard she had to work to succeed in her new position.
"That took up a lot of my time as I didn't wanna embarrass anybody, so I made sure I knew exactly what I was doing," Ora said. "It was an incredible experience."
The pressure was even higher thanks to the fact that the stars of "Fifty Shades of Grey," which also include Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Victor Rasuk as Jose Rodriguez, had already begun filming and bonding before Ora's arrival. Luckily, the "How We Do" singer adjusted quickly.
"I went from not knowing what it's like being on a movie set, to feeling like I knew them all for years, and I wasn't even there for that long," Ora continued. "They'd already been filming for months and months, so I came in midway through the film."
Ora has revealed in the past that she originally got in touch with the "Fifty Shades of Grey" team because she wanted to work on the movie's soundtrack but was encouraged to audition for the role of Mia.
"I can honestly say it's so cool to be in it," Ora added. "I'm so excited. I was really nervous. I kind of came in last minute. I auditioned last minute."
Meanwhile, when it comes to the singer-turned-actress' next album, the feeling was not nervousness, but rather confidence in taking a new direction.
"This album actually means so much to me because it's the first time I've put my honest opinion in it, if that makes any sense," the 23-year-old explained. "When I did my first album I was 18, and I kind of just wanted to make good music. ... This time I've been through a lot, took on some things like a grown-up, moved into my first place. That kind of thing."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015.
