Pinterest is planning to make the leap from computer screens to television screens by becoming the newest competitor in the television networks industry. The company's success might be helped by the fact that fans know what to expect from the Internet photo-sharing platform.

Expanding beyond the online realm, Pinterest is set to premiere a new TV series called "We're Moving In", a home design show that will be broadcast on A&E Networks' FYI, their new lifestyle channel. The show will follow a group of new housemates drawing inspiration from Pinterest in designing their new home. Every episode, a featured housemate will begin the decorating process by creating a shared Pinterest board. FYI has already ordered six episodes of the unscripted show. Each episode will be half an hour long.

The television network says that the idea of the collaboration with Pinterest started because of the users' passionate and diverse sharing experience online, which they believe is a good reflection of the company's mission. The company believes in embracing an adventurous and personalized approach to lifestyle.

The president of Lifetime Movie Network and FYI, Jana Bennett, says that they are able to bring the same unique creativity to their planned TV series. The new FYI network is the replacement for the A&E Network's BIO Channel. The network debuts on July 7.

It is not surprising that the TV brands and networks began to toy with the idea of tapping into the online platform as a theme for a series. Recent research and studies show that Pinterest is worth $3.8 billion. Furthermore, the website has captured a coveted demographic: 90 percent of pins are posted by women. Pinterest sharing has also increased by 5 percent in Q1 of 2014 when compared to its previous quarter, making it one of the most popular photo sharing websites.
