The blue planet is suffering from various problems, stretching from environment changes to the extinction of species. The most frequent news people heard are about the extinction of Tigers, Pandas, lions etc but, it is not limited to these species. A recent report claims that population of vertebrates of our world has shown a certain slump in numbers. The study is done by Zoological Society of London.

According to Nature.com, various activities by humans have led to such a decline in population. The reports say that from 1970 to 2012, population of Earth's wild mammals, birds, sea animals, amphibians, fish and other vertebrata declined by more than half.

These species are getting vanished due to deforestation, poaching, animals killing in bulk and many more. After the report, seems like Global warming is not the only growing threat to the planet.

The fall of 58% species in the past 4 decades is a serious problem. The humans need to understand the urgency to save our wildlife; it is an important task to do. Rise in human population in past couple of decades led to the exploitation of wildlife as numbers are people are moving are settling near their habitats. The report by Living planet maintained data for three ecosystems- terrestrial, freshwater and marine. They have tracked the record of 3700 species of 14152 populations.

This also indicates, in coming years world will lose large numbers of population of vertebrates, if no concrete step is taken by the countries to save the wildlife. Report also said that by 2020, we will suffer from more loss as 2/3 of the vertebrates are going to get wrecked in the future.

Decline in wildlife is a serious issue for human, in the process of saving the wildlife countries must take necessary actions immediately. Many countries have seen seriousness towards these issues. Like- India has recently announced the continuous rise in number of tigers in the country.
