Android 7.0 Nougat Latest News & Update: HTC 10 gets Nougat OS update starting Friday
As a Thanksgiving's Day treat, HTC has started rolling out the anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update for its flagship phone, HTC 10.
Earlier this year, HTC announced that the HTC 10 will be its first smartphone that will be receiving its series of Android 7.0 Nougat update. Without further ado, the mobile company announced that HTC 10 users in the United States can receive the Android Nougat OS update starting Friday, as per NDTV.
Its vice president of Product Management Mo Versi announced on Thursday, "Happy Thanksgiving! HTC 10 unlocked owners will receive Nougat OS update tomorrow morning! Enjoy!"
Furthermore, the Nougat update that is rolling out includes security patches up to November 1 only, as per XDA Developers. The dev community is a little disappointed over these supposed outdated security patches considering that the latest ones and the more critical patches came from November 5 updates.
As for the interface design of the updated HTC 10, HTC left most of its previous features untouched, but the Nougat changes can be seen in the Notification Panel and the Quick Toggles. The notification area is slightly different and as further reported by the source outlet, users can enable the Night Mode quicker as users no longer need to add any app to toggle this option.
The HTC 10 update also comes with the Sense UI skin that represents an overall "HTC" experience. Global release of the Android Nougat 7.0 updates in HTC 10 devices, however, is yet to be known. Also, the update only comes to the unlocked variant so for those using the carrier locked, they might have to wait longer to experience the latest security updates.
Likewise, other HTC devices including the One M9 and One A9 will be the next target of the Taiwanese mobile company to receive the Android Nougat OS updates. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
