Paris Saint-Germain had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Monaco, keeping the race for first place in the French Ligue 1 close.

Paris Saint-Germain remains atop the standings with 55 points while Monaco is second with 50. The draw kept the difference between the two sides at five points, instead of the eight point lead that Paris would have undoubtedly wanted to create. With a win, Paris would have had 57 points while Monaco would have been stuck with 49.

"It was OK," said Paris Saint-Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic about the draw, according to ESPN. "We didn't win but I think Monaco needed to win more than us and we are still five points in front.

"One point for us, one point for them. But I think they needed to win more than us."

Javier Pastore scored the opening goal just eight minutes in and it seemed that PSG would cruise to a 1-0 win. However, Thiago Silva's rather mediocre season continued for PSG as he scored an own goal that wound up tying the score.

Despite the draw, Ibrahimovic noted that the team still has a long way to go in order to secure a title.

"It's a lot of games still," the Swedish international said. "We try to collect as many points as possible to win the championship but I think Monaco will be there and make it difficult for us."
