Universal pictures have unveiled a short but interesting teaser of 'The Mummy', starring Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe, and Tom Cruise. The studio released an ominous-looking poster for the movie and the news that a full trailer will be coming on Sunday 4 December.

'The Mummy' is written by Jon Spaihts and Christopher Macquarie and it stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. It is slated to reach both UK and US cinemas by 9 June 2017, reported by Radio Times

According to Seattle Pi,' Universal pictures has thrown around rumors of a "shared monster universe", and The Mummy may be the first big domino to fall.

The movie is set in modern times and the story is about an ancient princess who awakes from the tomb and only Cruise (the leading character) can stop her from collapsing the whole world.

The short trailer shows a mummy being removed from an underground crypt somewhere in the Egyptian desert. This may be interesting to see how the creature terrorizes the world.

Based on the storyline, the mummy awakens in the modern day, "making with her revenge grown over centuries and terrors". The trailer ended with a sight of the mummy extending her hands.

Movie lead star Tom Cruise tweeted," I'm excited to help bring The Mummy to life. I can't wait to see the full trailer of Sunday"

According to IBT, 'The Mummy' is the first from the planned series of classic monster movie reboots that the famous movie production outfit will be launching. Since this would be the first of the many movies to be officially announced, other movies like Van Helsing, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are already in the works which may be the ones next in line.

In addition this would be the very first version where the title role is played by a woman who happens to be Sofia Boutella, a truly beautiful monster.
