Series regular Dakin Matthews will officially exit "Madam Secretary" Season 3. The 76-year-old American actor will be killed off in the series. However, no details and information have been stated about his reason to leave. Matthews plays the role of American Ambassador Roy Curtis.

As for the official plot synopsis of episode 9, Spoilers Guide notes, "As the U.N. Security Council considers reinstating sanctions against Iran for its suspected nuclear activities, U.S. Secretary Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) tries to stop Israel from taking matters into its own hands when it threatens military action against the Iranians.

Also, White House Chief of Staff Russell Jackson (Zeljko Ivanek) pressures Henry McCord (Tim Daly) to woo his old Air Force buddy, Congressman Jeff Pearson (Michael Cerveris), to support President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) in the House's election vote, and Stephanie 'Stevie' McCord (Wallis Currie-Wood) asks Russell for a recommendation to Harvard Law School."
