Rumors about Brad Pitt starring in the second season of "True Detective" have heated up as a source says that the movie star is close to signing the deal.

Brad Pitt is set to take his turn in television after both lead roles of "True Detective" are available and up for grabs following the exit of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. One senior television source mentioned that it's not entirely impossible since Brad Pitt is already a member of the HBO family. He added that Brad could be part of "True Detective" Season 2 if commitments allow. Last year, he had joined Ryan Murphy in producing the HBO movie "The Normal Heart." The rest of the team would be thrilled to have Brad Pitt in this production.

Another report said that his name has come up many times and that it would all depend on his other commitments. "True Detective" is the kind of television show that actors want to be on because it is exquisitely written, with complex characters and dialogue. However, creator Nic Pizzolato has not revealed even the tiniest of hints as to what fans could expect from the following season of the HBO series. Pizzolato only said that it is not about solving a murder mystery and that it is about the story of a detective who is chasing after an elusive criminal. Not much to go on but it certainly does sound interesting.

Other speculated actors and actresses have included Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, and Edward Norton, who are all believed to fit the show very well. Season 2 of "True Detective" is set to premiere in 2015. No confirmed reports from credible sources have been made but having Brad Pitt star in the television series is definitely something both fans of the show and of the actor would look forward to.
