Since the release of anime "Tokyo Ghoul" in 2014, the series became a hit show with a cult following. Fans of Ken Kaneki have been eager for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 to be released but it seems they will have to wait longer due to the delay.

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was supposed to be released this year but it has been moved to be delayed in 2017. Until now, there has been no confirmed news regarding the official release date of the third season.

It was reported that one of the reasons why "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was delayed is because of lack of material for the show to go on. The events in the anime series has caught up to the manga and instead of going off the source material like season 2 had, the creators wanted to follow the manga religiously.

Ecunemical News reports that fans were highly disappointed with "Tokyo Ghoul" season 2 as it did not follow the manga's story. Fans even wanted to do a reboot of the series to give it justice. This could mean that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 may take longer to amend for the previous season as fans' interest in the show dipped upon learning that it deviated from the manga.

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will reportedly be handled by Madhouse Entertainment from Pierrot Studio. The third season may feature more than 20 episodes but the current source material could only produce until 12 episodes.

As for the events in "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, News Everyday reports that there will be a new ghoul investigator named Haise Sasaki. However, fans of the manga will know that Sasaki and Ken Kaneki are one and the same. It appears that Ken did not die from his wounds upon fighting Arima Kishou. The outlet adds that Ken as Haise Sasaki has memory problems and does not know his real identity. "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is slated to be released in early 2017.
