Johnny Depp, Amber Heard divorce news: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ accuses ex-wife of breach of contract; Refuses to pay the $7 million settlement
It has only been a few months since the former Hollywood couple, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, went into a settlement of their divorce, that the the "Rum Diary" actress filed citing domestic abuse. Based on the settlement agreement, "Edward Scissorhands" actor was to pay his ex-wife $7 million that the actress wanted to donate to the charities.
However, Mirror reported that the actor refused to pay the money that forced his former wife to report the issue to Los Angeles Superior Court, filing a Request for Order, forcing Depp to make the payment.
Heard also filed a declaration stating that the actor paid the initial sum of $200,000 directly to a charity, rather than paying to her, which direct violation of the confidentiality agreement.
At the same time, Depp also accused his estranged wife of violating the agreements of their settlement by announcing that she will be donating the settlement amount to the two charities.
Meanwhile, Depp also reportedly withheld the payment of settlement after Heard released two written pieces, what is speculated to be about her abusive marriage with the actor, even though she never once divulged his name, as reported by Forbes.
According to Depp, this character assassination was uncalled for and and also a breach of their confidentiality agreement. He said, via his lawyers, that considering the shortness of his marriage to Heard and also his mother's grievous loss, Depp will not respond to any scandalous stories or gossips about his personal life.
It is yet to be decided who exactly breached the confidentiality agreement, was it Heard for hinting publically about her abusive marriage to Depp or was it Depp for not honoring the settlement by paying the agreed sum?
It now rests on the lawyers and perhaps a judge who will decide if Heard indeed violated the terms of their agreement. If not, Depp may not only have to pay the agreed settlement amount but also a penalty, the publication noted.
