New Exciting Things in Netflix this New Year!
New year, new you, new me and new television series and movies to watch out for in Netflix this January 2017!
Netflix will release several new original television shows starting this January. Some of this new series will soon be available based on Cheat Sheet and Hollywood Reporter reports.
- One Day at a Time. Release Date: January 6
- One Day at a Time is based on the 1975 sitcom with the same name. The show's main characters belongs to a Cuban-American family that is led by a former military mom (Justina Machado) who is also separated from her husband. The show revolves around the single life of Justina Mercado as she raise her daughter (Isabella Gomez) and son (Marcel Ruiz) with the help of her mom (Rita Morena) and her friend named Schneider (Todd Grinnell). One Day at a Time consists of 13 episodes. It is written by Gloria Calderon Kellet and Mike Royce and directed by Pam Fryman.
- A Series of Unfortunate Events. Release Date: January 13
- The show is based on the children's novel series by Lemony Snicket. The series will follow the life of the Baudelaire siblings who are sent to live with their distant cousin Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris). He then plans to steal the siblings' inheritance. Once the children are taken from him, he follows them and wears different disguises to keep his identity hidden while he proceeds with his plan. The show will have 8 episodes in its freshman season.
- Frontier. Release Date: January 20
- The show is a historical drama told from multiple perspectives. It is set in a world wherein "business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights and where delicate relations between native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts." Jason Momoa will star in the series and his character is said to record the struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade.
Aside from the new TV series, movies will also be shown such as the Parent Trap (1961), Bee Movie (2007), Nancy Drew (2007) and a lot more to look forward to so stay tuned and catch these shows on Netflix.
