Dana White In Wait And Watch Mode After Cris Cyborg Justino Faces Doping Charge
UFC President Dana White is skeptical about Cris Cyborg Justino overcoming the doping charge against her.
A report published in TMZ Sports surmises that White is not too hopeful that Cyborg will overcome the doping charges levelled against her. In fact, according to the report, White is believed to have suspected something as Cyborg had turned down several offers from him.
White's skepticism stems from the cold shoulder he got from Cyborg despite three offers with sufficient time to prepare. Apparently after USADA looked into a doping charge against Cyborg White realized it could be the reason for her refusal.
In another report published by Fox Sports, White was intending to flag off the new women's featherweight division with Cyborg. Cyborg turned down the offer from White as she was recuperating from her weight loss issues during her preparation for the fight in September.
According to the report, it is possible that Cyborg's testing positive for Spironolactone was the real reason for refusal of White's offer. Spironolactone is a diuretic banned in the UFC for all athletes.
Cyborg is basing her defense on the prescription of her doctor for recovery from her regimen to cut her weight to 140 pounds for her September fight. However, Cyborg's defense may not cut too much ice with the authorities as she did not seek an exemption for the use of the drug before she took it.
It is possible that Cyborg may attract a 1-year suspension award for her failing to seek permission before consuming the banned drug.
White is in a wait and watch mode about Cyborg's prospects even though this is the second time Cyborg has been hauled up for drug related issues.
White feels it has worked out well for him as he has been able to fix up a fight at 145 pounds between Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie.
