Mysterious Radio Signals Continue to Come From Outside the Milky Way
Earlier this year mysterious radio signals were detected from outside our galaxy, these were discovered by scientists in March 2016. It appears that these signals have been coming from the same location in space and researchers have stated that it is far beyond our "Milky Way" galaxy.
These are known as Fast Radio Bursts (FRB) and Scientists have discovered 10 powerful bursts that lasted only milliseconds. Even though these bursts last for a very short time the energy that is generated is as much as energy as the Sun in an entire day, Science Alert reported.
Researchers have stated that there are almost 2000 of FRBs across the Universe every day, there are possibilities of it to be more than 2000 but this was just an estimate by the researchers. The toughest challenge researcher's face is when it comes to detecting them, since they are short lived it is really hard to trace.
FRBs were discovered only in the year 2007, with almost 10 years gone by Scientists are now able to narrow down the options for this particular cause. With the recent discovery they have detected 16 signals coming from the same place by creating a repeated pattern of signals.
According to News Max, these are from deep space and way out of our galaxy. However, this leads to a speculation that there might be advanced extra-terrestrial civilization beyond them.
These were recorded at the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico, once the team looked into the data they realized that it came from the same locations as the FRBs in 2012. Five of these were recorded with the Green Bank Telescope at 2GHz, and the other at 1.4 GHz through the Arecibo observatory.
It is certainly going to take a while to understand these FRBs and the reason behind it. The task does not seem easy but with progress everyday Scientists are capable of figuring out important clues about the events.
