As promised by director Ridley Scott, all the big questions that “Prometheus” had left to its viewers will be answered in the upcoming sequel “Alien: Covenant.” The film will be the second installment in the “Alien” prequel series, with Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce reprising their roles.

Scott was very vocal on his intentions for a two-part prequel to “Alien,” the first part being the 2012’s “Prometheus” while the second one is expected to bridge the gap between the two films. Newcomer Katherine Waterston who will be playing a terraforming expert aboard the Covenant talked to ScreenRant and opened up, “I think it has elements of both films. Like, it’s got some aspects that are similar to “Prometheus” and then it does feel, in many ways, like a return to the original.”

Waterston, however, was tight-lipped and refused to offer further details about the highly-anticipated film that supposedly holds all the answers. She ended, “but obviously, you look at IMDB, you know Michael Fassbender’s in it, so there is going to be connection from ‘Prometheus.’”

“Alien: Covenant” will follow the journey of the crew of a colony ship bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy but rather found a dark, dangerous world. As Scott earlier expressed to Collider, his vision for this film is a sinister one.

“I’d love to explore where the hell Dr. Shaw (Rapace) goes next and what does she do when she gets there, because if it is paradise, paradise cannot be what you think it is. Paradise has a connotation of being extremely sinister and ominous.”

Furthermore, the upcoming film is expected to answer the lingering question on why the Engineers deemed that humanity deserved destruction. The film might even open up another installment of the “Alien” franchise.

“Alien: Covenant” will be hitting theaters on May 19, 2017. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
