'Star Wars: The Old Republic' News: This is How MMORPG Players Honor Carrie Fisher's Death In-Game [DETAILS]
With Carrie Fisher's recent passing, her memorial service is currently on-going. However, some "Star Wars" fans have found a way to commemorate the late Princess Leia actress inside the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" game.
Thousands of "Star Wars: The Old Republic" fans reportedly gathered at the House Organa in Alderaan inside the game. PC Gamer reports that the gathering was initially done by just a bunch of people but it soon turned into a virtual memorial service for Carrie Fisher who died of a heart attack this week.
Hundreds of players reportedly came from several servers in-game where they danced and had fireworks to celebrate the late actress and her contributions to the highly popular "Star Wars" franchise. The outlet adds that there was even a character made in the likeness of Fisher's character, Leia Organa for the tribute. The virtual memorial lasted for a few hours and the event was turned into a video as a remembrance for Fisher.
To further cement Fisher in the "Star Wars" franchise even more, "Star Wars: The Old Republic" are asking the developer studio DICE to create a statue for Princess Leia in her family home. However, Kotaku reports that the setting for Old Republic takes places hundreds of years before Leia was born but people are rooting for the petition not just for the Alderaan princess but for the actress who played her.
For those who want to celebrate Fisher's passing in BioWare's "Star Wars: The Old Republic," the game is free for download and play. Getting into Alderaan may be a little tricky because players will need to be at least level 26 to access the planet. However, it can be traveled to by ship when it is acquired by playing a bit of the game first.
