King Henry met his demise and Bash and Nostradamus unmasked the Darkness on the season finale of "Reign."

On the season one finale, King Henry (Alan van Sprang) meets his end in an intense jousting match with his son, Francis (Tony Regbo). Henry's days were numbered after he declared his intentions to kill Francis on the previous episode, and Francis ends up getting the better of him.

Bash (Torrance Coombs) and Francis reconcile after the ordeal, and the two brothers share a hug.

Meanwhile, Lola (Anna Popplewell) goes into labor, and sends word to Mary (Adelaide Kane) that she fears that she may not live to care for her child. Mary then tells the truth to Francis that he's the father of her child. Francis is furious that Mary kept it from him.

Bash and Nostradamus (Rossif Sutherland) go on a mission to track down the Darkness, only to find out that it's back at court, trying to kidnap Pascal and murder Kenna (Caitlin Stasey). They return to court and reveal the Darkness, learning that he's really a pagan who is sacrificing children to stave off the plague, which he believes will return. He was therefore making sacrifices to prevent the Black Death.

Also, Greer (Celina Sinden) tells Leith that she still does not have enough money to pay off her father's debts. A near-death experience almost makes her change her mind about her impending nuptials, but she decides to stay with her fiance. It's also revealed that Greer's fiance is the father of the girl Leith is now seeing.

On the next season, it's hinted that the Black Plague will wreak havoc in Europe.
