Barcelona regained its spot atop the Spanish League with a 3-0 win over Malaga. The team now has 54 points on the year and leads Real Madrid by one point. Atletico Madrid also picked up a point and managed to keep level with Blaugrana.

"It was a game we dominated from the first minute," defender Gerard Pique said, according to Goal.com. "We scored one goal in the first half but it could have been so many more ... Despite the bad times we've had, during these two years, we have always maintained top spot. This means that this is a compact, solid team that can still stay up there for a lot longer."

Pedro and Alexis Sanchez tallied for Barcelona, but the big surprise was the absence of Lionel Messi on the scoreboard. The superstar has not scored in a Spanish League match since September; he is currently stuck on eight goals this season and is 14 back of rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite Messi's inability to score, he assisted on one goal and his teammates feel that he has done all he needed to do to be successful.

"He can absolutely do as he pleases. Assist, press, move ... he can do it all. He attracts a lot of attention from the opposition," said manager Gerardo Martino. "He sees passes and that he hasn't scored is not important."

"Leo always brings with him a lot of goals, but he also provides other things, such as assists and good team play when the team needs him in midfield," added Pique.
