Premier League 2013-14 Title Favorite: Sir Alex Ferguson Weighs in on Favorite to Win League Title
Picking the favorite to win the Premier League in 2013-14 is extremely difficult. At the top of the list is Arsenal with 51 points. In second is Chelsea and Manchester City both with 50 points.
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he is unable to choose a favorite in this hotly competitive year.
"It's still not an easy league to win. I think the English game is the most honest and is the hardest league to win in terms of the competition you face. You can lose to anyone," said Ferguson about the difficulty of playing in England.
Regarding the top teams this year, he stated, "You have to say Manchester City are playing so well, there is no dispute about that, but the teams at the top at the minute must have a big chance.
"Arsenal must have a big chance. Everyone keeps writing them off, saying they won't last, but we're into the second half of the season and they are still there," he added. "Then you've got Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham, who are starting to do well. United always do well in the second half of the season, so we've got a fantastic league and we should be proud of that."
Arsenal's home record has not been as solid as Chelsea's or Manchester City's as the team has won eight of 11 thus far. Meanwhile, Chelsea has not lost a single point at the Ethiad Stadium this year while Chelsea has only lost two out of 33 points at home.
However, the big determinant will likely be on the road this season. Arsenal has lost two on the road and drawn once; the remaining eight matches away from the Emirates Stadium have been wins. However, City and Chelsea have not managed more than five wins away from home. In the case of City, the team has lost four at home while Chelsea has lost three of its 11 away from home.
It is likely that the team that manages to keep up a solid road record will come away as the winner in 2013-14.
