Sir Alex Ferguson is urging Manchester United fans to not give up on new manager David Moyes.

Moyes has struggled mightily to live up to Ferguson's legacy in his inaugural season with the club and has constantly faced being fired from the team for what has been a disastrous season in every possible way.

United has already been eliminated from both the Capital One Cup and FA Cup and is struggling to get into a top four spot in the Premier League. Currently the team has 37 points and is 14 back of first place in the league. If that was not harsh enough, the Red Devils currently sit six points behind fourth place Liverpool; Tottenham also has 43 points while Everton is in sixth with 42. One team being unable to keep that pace is possible, but three? Highly unlikely.

The only real hope the team clings to is a solid Champions League performance. But who would honestly give this team a chance against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona? In fact, does anyone really fancy Manchester United over a team like Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain?

Despite these catastrophic circumstances, Ferguson is urging patience for the new manager.

"United can do anything. They have got that great philosophy and history, they will always do well," he said during an interview with Sky Sports News. "I can watch the team whenever I want and I've really enjoyed it. I'm going as a supporter now and instead of suffering with the team, I'm suffering or enjoying it with the fans. I'm really enjoying watching the team play."

Should Moyes be fired or is Ferguson right?
