Julian Draxler is not coming to Arsenal in January. Despite a plethora of rumors claiming the opposite, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has finally opened up about the news and denied it completely.

"That again is an illusion," said Wenger about the rumors, according to ESPN. "There's nothing happening. Honestly, no. We have no need for players on the flanks -- we have 17 players on the flanks. We don't rule it out but at the moment I can't announce anything."

The 21-year-old Schalke 04 property is a terrific attacker and was rumored as a prime target for Arsenal. However, the rumors died down in recent weeks as Schalke's top executives repeatedly denied the rumors.

"I have not been told that Julian would like to leave us, either in the winter or the summer," Horst Heldt stated, according to ESPN. "There have not been any requests from any club regarding Julian."

"It boils down to wild speculation, which has been happening in England. The club could have also contacted us if they were interested," he added. "In recent weeks, all the stories regarding FC Schalke 04 in the English media have had very little substance."

Another team reportedly interested in the youngster's services is Bayern Munich. The German champs have been buying up as much young talent as possible over the last year and it would not be surprising to see Pep Guardiola lunge at the youngster in hopes of building for the future.

It is unlikely that such a talent as Draxler winds up with Schalke, especially with the team in seeming decline.
