The winning numbers for the New York Lotto drawing on May 21 were 7, 27, 30, 45, 50 and 53, and the bonus number was 14. There were five winners with winning tickets sold at five different locations.

The next drawing is Saturday, May 24, with a jackpot of $6.5 million.

To play, pick up a lotto playcard at any New York Lottery retailer, and pick six numbers, one through 59. Then select a wager amount (minimum play is $1 for two game panels), or play up to $5 on the 10-playcard. If you win a jackpot, you have 60 days to choose either 26 graduated annuity payments or a lump-sum cash value from the date you claim your prize.

In order to win the second prize, you must match at five of the six numbers drawn plus the Bonus Number. The Bonus Number is the seventh number drawn and is only used for the second prize level.

The numbers are drawn on Wednesday and Saturday nights, and the six winning numbers and a bonus number are randomly selected from 59 numbered balls from a special draw machine under the observation of an independent auditing firm. The drawings are done live on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:21 p.m. Go to the New York Lotto website to find the TV station in your area that broadcasts the live drawings.

The overall chances of winning on a $1 play are 1 in 46. Prizes are also paid on a pari-mutuel basis and must be claimed within one year of the draw date.

For each LOTTO draw, 40 percent of the sales are given as prize money.

For jackpot levels, the jackpot amount is based on expected sales in addition to the First Prize money that is carried over from the previous draw until someone wins the jackpot.

You can purchase tickets from 4 a.m. until terminals close at 3:30 a.m. or at 11 p.m. when the game closes.
