GTA 5 Update and PC Release Date Rumors: Theories Behind the Lack of New Grand Theft Auto V Game
Every Grand Theft Auto V fan knows just how hard gamers have been petitioning, commenting and complaining about getting the game on PC. Still, Rockstar Games has yet to announce anything about the game even being in the works, but could there be a method behind their madness?
As of now, the only consoles that Grand Theft Auto V is available on are Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 (there is also an online version of the game). According to The Fuse Joplin, Sony and Microsoft could be preventing Rockstar Games from releasing the game on any other platform.
"Rockstar definitely has signed an exclusivity agreement with both Microsoft and Sony," the site reported. "It most probably states that GTA 5 should not make its way to PC or even next gen until the period ends."
This "agreement" reportedly is expected to end by the end of 2014. Therefore, Grand Theft Auto PC would not be possible until 2015. The argument makes sense logically, but there is no physical proof of this agreement to assure gamers for certain.
Another possibility for the delay of the highly demanded PC game is simple mechanics.
"They just can't port Grand Theft Auto to PC ... because the platforms are very powerful compared to their older gen counterparts," The Fuse Joplin explained. "Any gamer or developer will know that it is more like creating the game from the scratch so that they run properly on the new platforms."
Again, the logic is there, but this doesn't explain why other Grand Theft Auto games have made their way to the PC. What makes Grand Theft Auto V different? Plus, earlier this month, Michael Pachter, Wedbush Securities managing director of equity research, suggested the exact opposite.
"Well, the PC version, you know, I think is a very easy port," he told Gaming Bolt. "So I am certain that's coming out, and I would bet anything that it comes out this year."
Another dilemma lies in the slew of online international retailers that have Grand Theft Auto PC on their sites for pre-order.
Another inevitable theory is pessimistic but still remains a possibility: Grand Theft Auto V will not be released on PC.
What do you think, gamers? Does Rockstar Game have legitimate reasons for not bringing Los Santos to PC yet? Or is the developer just being extra secretive ahead of the upcoming release promised by various retailers? Will Grand Theft Auto V ever hit PC? Comment below and share your theories.
