"Fast & Furious 7" writer Chris Morgan has admitted that the team has yet to figure out a way to "retire" Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor from the franchise.

It was previously announced that Walker's character would be retired from the franchise and that some of the footage that he filmed for the movie would be used. However, Morgan has no idea how that will be achieved at this point and even hinted that this may not be the ultimate approach for the film.

"I mean at this point, everyone took a break and we're having time to grieve," the writer said, according to IGN. "And now everyone is coming together, linking arms and trying to figure out what the best way forward is. And that's kind of the stage we're at right now. Everyone is motivated to make it something special and move forward in the right way."

Regarding retiring the character he added, "I saw that and I wasn't quite sure where that was coming from ... There's nothing set in stone at all. Those are the conversations we're just now having. Nothing's decided. Everything is still open and on the table."

Walker died tragically in a car accident on Nov. 30, 2013. He was a major star in the "Fast & Furious" franchise and many wondered whether the series would be able to continue without him. The upcoming installment, which is being directed by James Wan, went on a brief break shortly after his death and the release date was delayed to accommodate for the delayed production schedule. Production is expected to get back on track in February or March and the movie will now be released on April 10, 2015.
