A few months ago, Michael Arndt was relieved of his duties as the scribe for "Star Wars: Episode VII." Many questioned if the change of writers was due to controversy, and now it has been revealed that this was the case indeed.

According to IGN, "Arndt is said to have focused on the offspring of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), with the original trilogy heroes taking on supporting roles. Abrams, however, wanted 'Episode VII' to focus on the classic trio of characters, so audiences could have one more chance to enjoy them before a fitting send-off. The new characters, the offspring, will now be in supporting roles, according to these sources, and take center stage in 'Episode VIII' and 'IX.' Some characters have disappeared from the Arndt script and new ones are being drafted."

There are also rumors that Obi-Wan Kenobi's daughter could also be included in the new script.

This obviously creates a number of questions about how the story would develop. With Luke, Leia and Han back at the forefront, what kind of villains and opposition would they face? And how would they pass the mantle to other characters in future series? Of course, as noted in an earlier article, Qui-Gon Jinn died in "Episode I" to pave the way for Obi-wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker; Obi-wan did the same in "Episode IV" to pave the way for Luke to take over the series as well.

Who would be the mother of Obi-Wan's daughter? Is this something that would be explained in a film that takes place during the years between "Episode III" and "IV?"

Other earlier rumors indicated that Hugo Weaving could take on the role of an imperial commander; if this is the case, then does it mean that the empire has been resurrected? If so, then are old rumors accurate that Ian McDiarmid (who plays the emperor) could return?
