The legendary and now former host of "The View" Barbara Walters is giving back to the alma mater that helped pave her career path as TV's most inspirational journalist.

Walters attended Sarah Lawrence College -- an independent liberal arts college located in the city of Yonkers -- in 1951 where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English.

During Sarah Lawrence's commencement ceremony that took place last Friday, Walters announced that she would be donating an archive of tapes, papers and photos from her five decades in journalism to the school, ABC News said.

Talk about a generous present!

In addition to her generous donation, Walters spoke to the students and encouraged the 455 students from the Sarah Lawrence 2014 graduating class to "follow their bliss," Deadline reported.

"I had no idea what my bliss was", she revealed to the students. "So if you are like me and you have no idea what your bliss is, get a job. I promise you that bliss will come."

Walters also credited the school for teaching her an important lesson that she's implemented all throughout her career.

So what exactly is the lesson you might ask?

Well, according to Barbara, it is the art, ability and importance of asking questions.

During her speech, Walters gave the example of her difficult interview with Russian president and former KGB operative Vladimir Putin. It was that interview that forced her to ask difficult questions, such as, if he'd killed anyone.

Walters later explained that asking such a bold question led people to ask her, "Where did you get the nerve to ask a question like that?" Walters responded, "It's easy. I went to a college where I was not afraid to ask questions. And this is that college. That is my contribution to world peace."

Take notes, kids! And congrats to Sarah Lawrence's graduating class of 2014!
