iOS 7.1 has been jailbroken for quite some time now, but unfortunately it doesn't offer all the features that iDevice users desire.

That led to calls for an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone and iPad. Jailbreaker extraordinaire i0n1c reportedly developed a new version for iOS 7.1.1, called Cyberelevat0r, but GottaBeMobile has reported that it may be fake.

The website the Cyberelevat0r is 'hosted' on instead has a ton of information on the jailbreak and even a video showing the jailbreak at work. But when users go to download the software all that they receive is a bunch of spam.

Perhaps the site is just experiencing some sort of technical difficulty, but if that's the case, there's no telling when or if it will get fixed.

Checko ut the video featuring the supposed Cyberelevat0r modification below:

Just in case you get the 7.1.1 jailbreak working here are some important tips that you should follow (courtesy of i0n1c).

  1. Make sure to backup your device by either syncing to your computer via the provide lighting-to-USB cable and following the iTunes prompts, or by enabling iCloud to do all the work for you (provided you have a stable WiFi connection of course.)
  2. Get rid of your passcode, at least during the jailbreaking process itself. You don't want to screw up your iDevice now, do you?
  3. Now during the Cyberelevat0r install, if the installer itself bungles up, you can reset the whole process by pressing and holding the home and power buttons.
  4. Finally, i0n1c would like you to be aware that not everything about Cydia (the alternative App Store) is supported on 7.1.1 at the moment. If and when developers update their apps any problems should absolve themselves.

But again the update is being derided as fake. These instructions still largely apply to prior jailbreaks. Just make sure to use common sense when tweaking your iPhone or iPad.

Do you like to tweak your iOS devices by jailbreaking them? If so, what added functionality do you like the most? Also, have you had any difficulty getting support for your iPhone or iPad after jailbreaking? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section below.
