Google Sets To Kill YouTube’s Unskippable 30-Second Ads
Remember the time when a video plays an advertisement before it begins? Advertisements, on the other hand, are a great source of revenue for the content creator. But the majority of content creators force users to go through ads that are as long as half a minute which instantly kills the excitement to view the whole content.
Google will finally put an end to 30-second video ads that they believe is frustrating all viewers and will no longer be available beginning 2018. YouTube initially started as an ad platform to monetize content to only partnered creators. As times changed and the traffic began to flow in uncontrollably, anybody could be a partner of YouTube and begin monetizing their content.
Google, however, will continue to explore additional ways to monetize YouTube videos in order to support content creators publishing videos through its YouTube platform. In a statement issued by the Mountain view firm Google have explained about stopping the said unskippable ads following a key decision. As covered by BGR, Google will now concentrate on other formats that Google thinks would work out for both the creators as well as Google themselves.
When the viewer stats were public for certain channels, advertisers were able to find out whether the video viewers had seen their adverts or not, which impacted their expenditure and profits in return. Visitors that source their daily entertainment through the platform will find the decision very welcoming.
Further details on The Verge explained as to what part of the advertisements were axed and the ones excluded from it. It seems like Google will likely retain the standard 15 and 20-second ad formats, for now, will stick to serve the creators and advertisers whereas the rather skippable ads that are showing for about 5-6 seconds shall remain unchanged alongside the banner ads.
But that said, users, will have to bear viewing the standard 30-second ads for the rest of the year or eliminate it by installing a plugin to block all video ads. Google is also offering additional features for those people who do not wish to see the ads, with the purchase of YouTube Red program. Unfortunately, the service right now is restricted to only specific countries.
