This year popular shows like "Breaking Bad" and "Game of Thrones" will match up against newcomers "True Detective," "Fargo" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" during the 2014 Television Critics Association Awards.

The 30th Annual TCA Awards will take place on Saturday, July 19 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. According to Deadline.com, the media organization consists of US and Canadian TV critics, reporters, columnists and bloggers who will recognize outstanding television programming in the 2013-14 season and honor actors and producers.

"Breaking Bad" will square off with "Game of Thrones" and other TV heavyweights "Orange Is the New Black," "True Detective" and "The Good Wife" to defend its title as Program of the Year.

For the first time, FOX's "The Mindy Project" and new series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will face off for the comedy award against longrunning shows "The Big Bang Theory," FX's "Louie" and HBO's "Veep."

Also up for a TCA nod for the first time is "Sleepy Hollow" and ABC Family's "The Fosters."

"These nominations are generated by the TCA membership, and choosing the best in television is not an easy task," said TCA President Scott D. Pierce, according to IGN. "Not because good television is hard to find, but because there are so many deserving shows from which to choose.

"Now TCA members face another difficult decision when they vote for the winners in each category," Pierce added. "These awards are voted on by the critics who know what television has to offer, and we'll learn what our membership has chosen as the best of the best when the winners are announced on July 19th."
