12- hour period of lawless violence upon the United States of America is the main theme of the "Purge" franchise. The franchise is deemed successful for its efforts to decriminalize murders and let people take out their frustration throughout the night. The franchise was deemed to be over as the last year's "Purge 3: Election Year" seemed to put an end to the story after the New Founding Fathers of America has been put in their places. But, after recent announcements, there is still a window of opportunity for another Purge movie.
According to Slash Film, the "Purge 4" has been confirmed for development and is getting a July 4, 2018, release to continue the bloody saga. The franchise was thought to be over but after showing some violent protests coming on the streets, the studio may have known that there is room for more. The films of the Purge series has been continuously prosperous starting with the first film gaining $89 million up to the last year's $118 million revenue. Still, the fourth film is set to also tackle the release of Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp which could be a difficult one.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter revealed that the sequel is also in need for a director after James DeMonaco is not coming back to helm. But, even though DeMonaco is giving the role to another, he's still with the project as a scriptwriter and works closely with the producers to select a director. The producers of the film are Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and Sebastian K. Lemercier. The films are known to have below $10 million budget but still managed to hit spectacularly once their out in theaters. Stay tuned for more updates.
