Bill Gates Warns Of Catastrophe That Will Kill Over 30 Million People In Next 10 Years
Bill Gates is not known to say stuff before thinking. Thus, his latest comment about global health could come as a shock to many.
According to Forbes, Microsoft owner Bill Gates recently attended the Munich Security Conference in Germany. There he gave a grave warning about a potential catastrophe that could threaten human lives very soon.
"Whether it occurs by a quirk of nature or at the hand of a terrorist, epidemiologists say a fast-moving airborne pathogen could kill more than 30 million people in less than a year," Forbes reported Gates saying. "And they say there is a reasonable probability the world will experience such an outbreak in the next 10 to 15 years."
Bill Gates has also stated that there is a good chance the next epidemic will originate on a computer screen. As per Express, this statement could mean terrorists using modern day technology to wreck havoc in recent times.
People are now asking whether Gates is aware of some hidden future calamity that hasn't been announced to the public yet. Gates co-panellists, Erna Solberg, the prime minister of Norway and Peter Salama, executive director of the World Health Organization also agreed with the assessment.
Solberg stated that although disease and violence are killing fewer people than before, but it's spreading more quickly. People have forgotten that these epidemics could be hugely catastrophic.
Peter Salama clearly revealed that catastrophe striking the human race is not a question of if anymore, but when. Therefore it's important to be fully prepared. Bill Gates further revealed that while natural epidemics can be huge, man-made ones such as bioterrorism would top it all in terms of total loss.
Since the conference was about security it was odd for Gates to go out on a limb and warn the people about some infectious disease threats. Bill Gates said that it's important to fight poverty if the humans want to be prepared for any of the eventual outbreak.
