LeVar Burton, who is best known by kids as the face of PBS' long-running educational series, "Reading Rainbow," is back with a Kickstarter Campaign to relaunch "Reading Rainbow" to today's generation of children.

"We can genuinely change the world, one children's book at a time," Burton says in the beginning of his Kickstarter video. "'Reading Rainbow' is back for every child, everywhere."

Burton also writes on his Kickstarter page that it was his mother who taught him the value of reading at a very young age.

"It was my mother who taught me that, by picking up a book, I could 'go anywhere' and 'be anything.' Ever since Reading Rainbow began in 1983, I have dedicated myself to fostering a love of reading in children, just as my mother did for me."

By the looks of how well Burton's Kickstarter Campaign did in less than 24 hours, it's pretty safe to say that the rest of the world wants "Reading Rainbow" to come back as well.

The NY Daily News reported that on Wednesday, Burton launched his online campaign with a goal to raise $1 million dollars in 35 days. However, with the overwhelming support from people pledging their donations on Kickstarter, Burton was able to raise over $1 million in less than a day.

What a feat!

Naturally, Burton was happy with the large amount of support for his campaign. On Wedneasday night he tweeted the hashtag, "#Grateful."

So now that Burton's campaign pledges keep growing and growing, what are his plans for the new and improved "Reading Rainbow?"

Well, Burton plans to create a classroom version of the show that will be made available to low-income schools at no cost. He also plans to make the episodes of "Reading Rainbow" all available online for free.

Congrats, LeVar Burton!
