'Galactic Civilizations III' Update: Developer Adds Espionage Missions In Upcoming 'Crusade' Expansion Pack
Stardock Entertainment has officially introduced the several new features and improvements that are coming to its popular strategy game "Galactic Civilizations III" in the games upcoming "Crusade" expansion pack, including espionage missions, custom factions, and a fully overhauled invasion system. "Galactic Civilizations III" players can also expect new races and civilizations to be included in the latest expansion pack, to go along with an exclusive story-based campaign mode.
Officially released in 2015, "Galactic Civilizations III" is a space-themed strategy game in which players will spread their civilization's knowledge and culture all throughout the galaxy. The game's main sandbox mode allows for endless gameplay possibilities, featuring players going up against as many as 100 opponents within a massive universe.
According to Digital Trends, the upcoming Crusade expansion for "Galactic Civilizations III" will have several features, including new races and civilizations for players to encounter and interact during their journey in the game, including the Terran Resistance, the Slyne, and the Onyx Hive. These races, along with several other races, will appear throughout a Crusade-exclusive campaign that pits the humans of the Earth against the Drengin, and their allied forces in a series of large-scale space battles.
In an effort to spread Earth's civilization to the deepest reaches of the universe, players need to hire spies and soldiers in order to take control of enemy planets. In the Crusade expansion pack, citizens can now be trained to specialize in espionage, which enables a player access to stolen alien technologies and unique forms of interplanetary sabotage.
According to Computer Magazine, other citizens can also assume other roles like admirals, engineers, or even celebrities in order to improve their planet's culture back to their home planet. Once spies and soldiers manage to control and conquer alien planets, players can now send trained citizens to Earth-allied worlds to establish a new base of operation.
"Galactic Civilizations III's" Crusade expansion pack will officially launch this coming spring via Steam. "Galactic Civilizations III" game owners can pick up the said expansion pack as a $20 add-on, while newcomers can opt towards a $40 bundle that would include the base game and all expansion content.
