Get your capes ready: Warner Bros. will be developing a "Justice League Dark" film and many other DC Universe movies.

Guillermo del Toro revealed the news to Cinefilos recently, explaining that the writing process has not been easy. "We're still on ['Justice League Dark'], writing, and hopefully it will happen but there are no developments that are new. We're still at Warner Bros., they are making plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is 'Justice League Dark.' They're planning on TV, movies, and all the media, so we have to fit into that plan," said del Toro.

Warner Bros. is currently developing "Batman vs. Superman," which is rumored to feature other DC characters including Nightwing and Wonder Woman. The studio has so far brought "Batman" and "Superman" to the big screen to wide success. However, it failed to do the same with "The Green Lantern," which was critically panned and failed at the box office.

The expansion of the DC universe would be a way to compete against Disney and Marvel. Marvel has been successful in bringing the Marvel world to the big screen with "Iron Man," "Thor," "The Hulk," "Captain America" and "The Avengers." Disney has also brought the Marvel Universe to TV with "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," and will next bring it to Netflix with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

While it is not clear what Warner Bros. will do with the DC Universe, audiences can expect the new "Batman vs. Superman" to be a starting point. A Justice League film should be released quickly after.
