Alien Franchise Could Have Four More Films, Director Reveals: Covenant 2 Already Under Development
Fans are excited to learn that "Alien: Covenant" will not be the last movie of the Alien franchise. The movie is set to be released this May and director Ridley Scott is very much interested in making more movies and continuing the saga.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Scott decided to resurrect the Alien franchise with "Prometheus" in 2012 because he couldn't see it ending with 2004's "Alien v. Predator". He added that "Prometheus" was made to raise questions that were never asked before.
The questions of who made the aliens and why were they made were set up in "Prometheus" "Alien: Covenant" will take answer these two very important queries of the fans.
The director revealed that more questions will be dealt with in next three or even four movies under Alien franchise. He added that Covenant 2 is already in development as he speaks.
Scott further added that the franchise has lots of potentials left to harness. There are lots of questions that are interesting and fascinating. Questions about the creations, about humans and from where we all came from will be further explored in the series.
Talking about "Alien: Covenant", actor Danny McBride revealed that the plot is darker than ever. The story itself starts in a dark place and gets more brutal with time.
As per Vanity Fair, Scott revealed that "Alien: Covenant" will start with answering the question of who David really is. For those who need a refresher, Michael Fassbender played the role of David who was an android and formerly a crew member of the destroyed Prometheus.
Scott has promised that viewers will like "Alien: Covenant" because it's smart. McBride shared the same sentiments and believes that the upcoming movie will cast Prometheus in a new and better light. "Alien: Covenant" will be released on May 19, 2017.
