'Injustice 2' News: NetherRealm Reveals Firestorm As Next Playable Character [TRAILER]
It's official! Firestorm joins the playable characters roster of NetherRealm's "Injustice 2" game. The character was previously teased back in December. A new reveal trailer has been released for him as well.
Firestorm was exclusively revealed by Xavier Woods on his YouTube channel UpUpDownDown. GameSpot reports that the WWE wrestler was in NetherRealm's studio and he was tasked to announce the official unveiling of Firestorm as the new "Injustice 2" playable character.
Woods created a video about the character and his experience in the studio. The wrestler was also seen gushing about "Mortal Kombat" and meeting Ed Boon. They also talked about the characters in the classic game prior to discussing "Injustice 2."
The WWE wrestler also had the chance to play Firestorm against a friend. The outlet reports that the new "Injustice 2" character is a hero that can attack at a range. Firestorm, like his name, can hurl fireballs as one of his offense weapons. Firestorm also has some close range attacks that include setting his enemy on fire when he touches them.
According to Heavy, Firestorm was recently seen in "Legends of Tomorrow" and his joining in "Injustice 2" is considered to be a treat for fans of the character. Firestorm joins the roster with popular superheroes and villains including Aquaman, Batman, Deadshot, Green Arrow, Flash, Poison Ivy, Bane, Superman, Wonderwoman, Atrocious and more.
"Injustice 2" comes as the next game for NetherRealm Studio's 2013 game, "Injustice: Gods Among Us." The upcoming game is set to be released on May 16 this year on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It was reported that players will have the chance to have different gaming experience in "Injustice 2." They will have the ability to "personalize" their favorite heroes or villains by the way they level their abilities and modifying their powers with weapons and armor through various loot.
