The news has been confirmed that a Venom solo film is underway with an official release date and a director. Viewers are excited about a possible Venom connection with "Spider-Man: Homecoming". 

According to The Independent, the Venom spin-off is set to hit the theaters on October 5th, 2018. Fans are curious to know how the character will connect to MCU's "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Theories have arisen that there might be no connection at all.

Venom is a character that has a major part of the Spiderman comics, however its unlikely he will appear in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". The villainous character is most commonly associated with Eddie Brock, a rival photographer who is jealous of towards Peter Parker. In the 2003 movie, "Spider-man 3", Venom was introduced as a photographer for the Daily Bugle, played by Topher Grace.

If the Venom standalone movie wants to be connected with MCU then it might find it hard to make Eddie Brock work for Daily Bugle where Peter Parker works. Since the Peter Parker in MCU, played by Tom Holland, did not give any official indication that he will get a job during "Spider-Man: Homecoming". 

According to Comicbook, there is another Venom origin story with 2003's Ultimate Spiderman series. Eddie Brock and Peter Parker are shown as childhood friends. The age of both characters are more or less similar to Spiderman's in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". 

In the 2003 comic, Eddie and Peter's fathers have been featured as co-workers working together to develop a special suit under Project Venom. The Venom story then moves forward to Eddie and Peter reconnecting while in and they discovered the symbiotic suit's capabilities. Fans are interested to know whether there will be a reconnecting scene of the old friends in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". 

Comic story follows Eddie being accidently overexposed to the symbiote, resulting in him morphing into Venom. The reason why this connection is the most realistic is the introduction of Adrian Toomes/The Vulture as "Spider-Man: Homecoming" main villain. In the 2003 comics, after Eddie turned into Venom, he was captured by The Vulture and then studied by Bolivar Trask's research team.
