The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced just today that the team has officially signed on veteran forward Omri Casspi. As per team policy, the terms of the said contract were not disclosed nor released.

The 28-year-old Casspi will join the Timberwolves after playing just 23 games for both the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans this season, totaling season averages of 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting a respectable 46.0 percent from the field, including a 39.4 percent mark from the three-point arc. According to NBA.com, the 6'9 forward appeared in a total of 22 games with the Kings before being acquired by New Orleans on February 20 in a package that brought all-star center DeMarcus Cousins to NOLA.

He played only one game for the Pels before suffering an untimely injury. He was later on waived by the Pelicans on February 25.

Casspi has currently played for eight seasons in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, and New Orleans Pelicans. Originally drafted by the Kings with the 23rd overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, Casspi currently owns career averages of 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game over a total of 486 contests, including 138 starts.

According to CBS Minnesota, Casspi is a career 44.2 percent shooter, which also includes a 36.9 percent mark from the three-point line. His best season came during the 2015-16 campaign with the Sacramento Kings, where he averaged career highs of 11.8 points, on 48.1 percent shooting from the field and 40.9 percent shooting from downtown, including 5.9 rebounds while making 69 game appearances that featured 21 starts.

Casspi will be wearing his usual No. 18 with the Timberwolves and will be serving as a bench player that will give some quality minutes when called upon. With the recent signing of Casspi, The Minnesota Timberwolves roster now stands at 15 players and are one of the deepest in the league despite the team's struggles.
