Apple iOS 10.3 Coming Soon: May Cause Data Loss, Kill Apps
Apple had suddenly released the seventh beta version of their upcoming new operating system, iOS 10.3. The release itself was reportedly quite surprising as it came out just days after the sixth beta version was released. Reports have revealed that this may be a clear sign that the final version of iOS 10.3 may be coming out to the public very soon.
Additionally, App Advice reveals that the company's online store suddenly now shows an "Upcoming Maintenance" warning. The report further claims that this could also be taken as a sign that something big may be coming out to the public very soon and that it could very well be iOS 10.3. With the rapid succession of beta rollouts and the work being done on the company's sites, iPhone and iPad users may finally be getting the long-awaited iOS 10.3 update in the coming days.
Apple's iOS 10.3 operating system update will be bringing with it a lot of changes to the overall mobile software. According to ZD Net, users who are planning to immediately upgrade to the new operating system version are advised to backup all of their data beforehand. The report claims that there is a big possibility of data loss with the new update as it will officially be transitioning the software to an entirely new file system.
iOS 10.3 is expected to replace the 29-year old HFS+ filing system with a brand new Apple-developed filing system. Due to the complexity of the transition, there is a big possibility that some files may be lost should something go wrong with a particular update process. As with any update, users should fully back up their data either through Apple's iCloud service or by using iTunes on a PC or Mac.
Updating to the iOS 10.3 will, of course, have a lot of advantages as it will be bringing with it a lot of new features. Apple also revealed that the new filing system will be better optimized for solid state storage and will further improve the security and integrity of the entire operating system.
